Oklahoma Visits Provo For The First Time

Sooner fans will have revenge on the mind this weekend as the Sooners travel to Provo, UT for the first time ever to take on the Cougars of BYU. These two programs have only played twice in the past, with BYU coming out on top in both meetings. The first coming in 1994 in the Copper Bowl where the Cougars won handily by a score of 31-6. The second meeting came in 2009, a year where Sooner fans, players and coaches had National Championship aspirations. The team was coming off of a great season that would see them lose in the National Championship game the year prior. They also had Heisman winning quarterback Sam Bradford returning, so on paper, the Sooners looked poised for another great season. Those aspirations would quickly fade though, as Bradford would go down with a shoulder injury right before the end of the first half, keeping him out for the rest of the game. Backup quarterback Landry Jones (who went on the break all kinds of passing records at Oklahoma) was thrust into the game and put up a great effort given the circumstances, but it was not enough. BYU would win the game 14-13 to stay undefeated against the Sooners. Oklahoma will look not only to get their first win against BYU, but keep their Big 12 championship hopes alive as well.
