Sooners Lose Running Back to Transfer Portal

The first big name has hit the transfer portal for the Oklahoma Sooners as running back Tawee Walker has entered. Walker looked to be the guy to take over the number one spot at running back midway through the season following the Red River rivalry game. In a game where the Sooners struggled to run the ball, Walker found a way to get into the endzone twice to help the Sooners grab the 34-30 win over the Texas Longhorns. But as the season went on, he seemed to get less carries while guys like Gavin Sawchuk saw an increase in their carries.

The junior running back put up decent numbers with the playing time he received in 2023. Walker had 496 yards this season on 95 carries with seven touchdowns. Mississippi State could be a destination to keep an eye on with former OU offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby accepting the head coaching job. Time will tell if that is the route Walker decides to go.
